Aude-Sophie Rodella
I am a Lead Economist at the World Bank’s Water Global Practice with a current focus on East Asia & the Pacific, following long experience in Sub-Saharan Africa and in the Poverty Global Practice in the Latin America Region. I hold a Ph.D. in microeconomics (summa cum laude) from the CERDI (France) and have experience working for other international partners (European Commission, United Nations, OECD, NGOs). I specialize in cutting-edge research and overcoming data limitations to inform policy and operational engagement related to poverty reduction and sustainable development.
I enjoy interdisciplinary research and I’m interested in issues that can have concrete lifetime impacts to reduce poverty and vulnerability. My research is also concerned with preventing locked-in decisions with negative environmental impacts compromising sustainability and long-term resilience.
Nowadays, I am especially interested in using a wide range of data sources (household surveys, administrative data, remote sensing, machine learning, and historical data) to overcome data gaps and improve causal inference in issues related to water writ large.
I consider myself an idealist in a realist body: I strive to contribute to long-term positive change with an eye for what can be achieved in the short to medium term to alleviate multi-dimensional poverty given existing constraints.
